Absinthe is the final recording from the band Naked City. Unlike the band's other genre-mixing releases, the music on Absinthe is consistently in an ambient and noise style. The titles of many of its tracks refer to the works of Paul Verlaine, Charles Baudelaire and other figures in the fin de siècle Decadent movement, and to the drink after which the album is named. The album's cover and liner notes feature photographs by the German Surrealist Hans Bellmer.

Though absinthe contains a trace amount of the compound thujone, which was once thought to be mind-altering, any weird effects people associate with drinking absinthe are probably just a result of too much alcohol. The simplest, most traditional way to drink absinthe is is with sugar and water. Pour a shot of absinthe into a shot glass. Balance an absinthe spoon over the glass with a sugar cube in it, then slowly pour water over the sugar cube and into the absinthe. Full instructions here. If you're feeling a little more adventurous, try an absinthe cocktail.

Many of the tracks listed are songs about the mind, but just because that word is in the title doesn't mean that the song's subject is exclusively about that. This ranked list includes songs like "Always on My Mind" by Willie Nelson, and "Suspicious Minds" by Elvis Presley.

Mixing electronics and 'traditional' instrumentation with warped song structres. These guys were 'balearic' before most, and some of thier records still get played in clubs and at festivals to this day. My personal fave has to be 'New Gold Dream', if I had to reccomend 5 great LP's from the 80's this would be on that list. In 1985 Jim Kerr, Charlie Burchill, and Michael MacNeil produced an album that elevated them to superstardom and Simple Minds could be considered 'the best band in the world'. Arguably the greatest pop/rock album ever written, 'Once Upon a Time' contained 5 hit records and no 'fillers', indeed, the title track and 'Come a Long Way' were exceptional recordings. Whether, or not, it garnered the critical acclaim it deserved is irrelevant.

Biography by Steve Huey. Scottish group, led by the affably bombastic Jim Kerr, whose mix of anthemic art rock and electro-dance rhythms made them pop fixtures. Live in the City of Light. EMI Music Distribution.

Although the song ties into the movement that has gained traction in recent years, YUNGBLUD has mentioned that he recalls seeing these sorts of behaviors when he was as young as 14. YUNGBLUD has stated several times that this song has a lot of meaning to him, and has stated in a video that he believes this song should remain on the forefront of our minds and needs to be talked about to make the issue obsolete.
