Michael George "Mick" Jackson (born 2 November 1947) is an English singer-songwriter and the co-writer of the song, "Blame It on the Boogie". The song was co-authored by Mick's brother David Jackson and Elmar Krohn, and produced by Sylvester Levay. Jackson recorded his version first and The Jacksons' management team picked up the song at Midem, the music industry trade fair in Cannes, where it was offered to them by Mick Jackson's publisher without Jackson's knowledge.

The Jacksons and the Mick Jackson versions were released within days of each other, the press loved that and it became widely known as 'The Battle of the Boogie' as both media and the public followed 'the Battle' as the two versions worked their ways up the charts on both sides of the Atlantic

Michael "Mick" Jackson started his musical career already in 1968, when he formed the group Jacko together with his two brothers and a friend. In 1977 Mick decided to go solo and after scoring a hit as Nick Jackson, he managed to write one of the best Disco songs ever, namely - "Blame it on the boogie". In the 1970's we would come to know him as Mick Jackson and he's not related to the other Michael Jackson of the Jackson's fame. Mick was the second of the family's four children - there was also his older brother Peter 'Pete', his younger sister Judith and brother David 'Dave'. This album was followed by two more solo albums, Step inside my rainbow and Square deal, but none of them scoring the same success and Mick found that he didn't want to stand in the spotlight any more. He decided to put his artist career on hold and have been focusing on writing and producing for others.
